I'm on my way out for the day, but just wanted to provide this quick update, as the news has left me speechless - YET AGAIN!Three New York City plainclothed detectives - Detectives Gescard F. Isnora, Michael Oliver and Marc Cooper - were just acquitted for the murder of Sean Bell (pictured), who was gunned down in a hail of 50 bullets just outside a strip club in Jamaica, Queens on November 25, 2006, hours before he was to be married to his fiancee, Nicole Paultre Bell (also pictured).
Not Guilty...again...as NYPD were found Not Guilty in the murder of Amadou Diallo (himself killed in a hail of 41 bullets in 1999), like the LAPD were found Not Guilty in the brutal beating of Rodney King in 1992.
See News Source.
As an aside, let me warn you now: do not read the ignorant comments from readers because they will make you angrier than you normally would be just learning of yet another police acquittal.
I for one want to know why is it that, the fact that Sean Bell and his buddies decided to go to a strip club for his bachelor's party (what a demented, insane, and criminal-minded idea this is, y'all!) is even being discussed! As if this action now makes the victim in this case (Sean Bell) sound like he is to be blamed for his own death!
Last time I checked, the hiring of strippers by a wealthy, elite athletic team at a prestigious southern university certainly didn't taint their characters! Why the hell is this fact something that is being raised to taint the innocence of this murder victim?!

50 bullets... this isn't just murder --it is overkill. How many bullets do one person need to unarm one person? Not 50. I feel so bad for the wife. She had to look at her man's mangled body --and I'm sure that he did not look human after what had happened. This is why cops are not to be trusted.
Just finished writing about Sean as well. I heard that there will be a protest in Harlem. Heading up there to pick up my daughter, so I'll be attending.
I can't tell you how burned up I am about this. Let me just say that I am NOT SURPRISED.
When I lived in New York, the police routinely killed innocent black men and always got away with it. It escalated to a fever pitch under Giuliani.
Something really must be done, like a class action lawsuit from all of the families against the state. The NYPD has been out of control for a loong time.
I didn't hear about the Harlem protest. I hope we can all think of new strategies to address this problem, because, like shecodes said, we really must put an end to this kind of injustice with regards to state violence.
Shecodes is right. There need to be a class action suit toward the NYPD (and maybe the LAPD) for this blind use of deadly excessive force. I wonder if either the NYPD or LAPD ever had to use 50 bullets to shoot down a white suspect? I doubt it.
Nevertheless, something should be done, like a national legal defense fund for things like this. We just can't be upset for weeks and march about it. I'm not saying we should be vigilantes, but we have to follow up our marching with legal or financial action. To all those CONservatives who are pointing their hypocritical fingers at Rev. Jeremiah Wright, their silence toward the verdict is just proving Rev. Wright right (no pun intended).
The murder of Sean Bell is another textbook example of homegrown, legalized terrorism. This "War on Terror" has been around long before 9/11.
I have to agree with shecodes. And Huey as well with the racial hypocrisy of the legal system. Where the hell are those folks who were upset and livid about the OJ verdict? Will they too vent and give their two cents about this injustice as well?
